WILMINGTON, MA, December, 2005 — GSI Group Inc. (Nasdaq: GSIG), the leader in laser trim of analog and mixed-signal devices, announces the immediate availability of its next generation WaferTrim M350 Active IC Trim System. The M350 builds on GSI Group’s expertise in this value-enhancing process step to provide a new level of precision and throughput for wafer-level, laser-based optimization of advanced IC devices. IC trim is a critical process used in the production of precision linear and mixed signal devices having increased functionality on smaller geometry die. It fine-tunes device performance and also enables the production of multiple or custom device types from one mask. By simultaneously testing and laser trimming each target device, the M350 provides reliable, high precision results. GSI Group has more IC trim systems in worldwide production use than any other vendor.
Built on GSI Group’s proven laser trim technologies and principles, the M350 features technical refinements that dramatically increase overall system throughput and enable processing of smaller and more complex device types. These include advanced vision and motion subsystems, a new isolated frame system, updated tester interfaces, and a new Windows-based GUI user interface. Many of the advancements found in the M350 have been field-proven in GSI Group’s technology-leading WaferRepair™ series of memory repair systems. According
to Paul Chase, Product Line Manager, “The new WaferTrim
M350 provides increased value for our customers, allowing them to
broaden their range of device adjustment capability, and increase
throughput, in a manner that is more intuitive and efficient.”
